052423 egg dropCHARLOTTE — After a break due to the pandemic, St. Matthew School students, teachers, staff, and parents welcomed back their annual Egg Drop Tuesday.

This year’s theme for the egg drop was based on NASA’s Mars Rover landing. Students engineered all types of housing for their “eggtronaut” to land safely on a picture of the surface of Mars.

Every student received a participation certificate and a space-themed bookmark. Students whose egg survived the thrilling drop from the top of the school building received a space galaxy stress ball and a Milky Way candy bar.

If their egg burst, students received Starburst candy.

Teacher Lindsay Davidson said she hopes the students take away the knowledge that by using some of the ideas from NASA, someday they too can become successful engineers.
