Dogs, cats, turtles, fish and other animals were blessed in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures. The feast day for St. Francis of Assisi is celebrated Oct. 4.
Several animals, including stuffed animals were blessed at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in High Point's Montlieu Chapel on Oct. 7.
Father John Putnam blessed animals at Sacred Heart in Salisbury on Oct. 4.
In Lexington, N.C., Father Al Gondek blessed animals Oct. 6 and 7 at Our Lady of the Rosary.
