GALLERY: Bishops celebrate Mass at St. Mary Major Basilica May 11
VATICAN CITY — The bishops from the Atlanta Province celebrated their final Mass of their ad limina to Rome on May 11, drawing to a close their week-long visit to the Holy Father and the Vatican. Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito of Palm Beach, Fla., was the main celebrant of the Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major. He spoke eloquently in his homily about how the bishops had started their ad limina Masses at the Tomb of St. Peter and were ending at Our Lady’s church. Peter had led them to Mary, who in turn leads them closer to Christ, he noted. (Photos by SueAnn Howell, Catholic News Herald)
