ACS wins first place in regional Battle of Books

051012battle-bookASHEVILLE — Asheville Catholic School Battle of the Books team won first place in the Region 9 competition April 17 in Chapel Hill.

They compete in the state Battle of the Books competition May 9 in Greensboro. Members of the team include Lana Camille, Melissa Cavagnini, Claire Cole, Milly Etheridge, Ben Greever, Ilze Greever, Hailey Judson, Annalise Mangone, Elizabeth Mangone, David Mathews, Sarah Michalets and Genevieve Wiedeman.

The Battle of the Books program is a competitive event sponsored by the N.C. School Library Media Association. Its goal is to encourage reading among middle school students.
