Veterans honored at Our Lady of Consolation

CHARLOTTE — Members of the prayer shawl ministry at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Charlotte honored local veterans Nov. 6 during a breakfast and program, led by Capuchin Father Martin A. Schratz, pastor. Veterans were presented with prayer shawls crafted by the ministry members.

(From left) Richard Cutting served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 2005. He took one 10- year break during his time served. He is a Vietnam veteran and served in Iraq from 2004 to 2005. Joseph J. Hunt served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 as a combat engineer. He was also one of the first African Americans to join the Knights of Columbus, in 1964. He currently holds the office of district marshal.
