Serving Christ and Connecting Catholics in Western North Carolina

CHARLOTTE —The Catholic News Herald spent a day following recently arrived Franciscan friars as they brought their new ministry to the streets, in partnership with the Diocese of Charlotte. We were there as Fathers Casey Cole, Tito Serrano and Jason Damon met people where they were – on the light rail, on the streets, in parks and in coffee shops.

The ministry called SEARCH – Seek, Encounter, Accompany, Renew, Convert and Heal – aims to reach young adults, spiritual seekers and those disconnected from the Church through authentic presence, conversation and compassion.

The friars’ day was filled with extraordinary and ordinary moments from encounters with strangers to checking their phones. Watch them on video here and find a moment to connect when you’re out and about.
