TRYON — St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tryon held its sixth Fatima procession Oct. 13.
The processions have taken place monthly since May, on the anniversaries of the 1917 apparitions of Our Lady to Lucia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto in Fatima.
The evening began with Sister Mary Lucia reading a narration of the Miracle of the Sun, which occurred on Oct. 13, 1917.
Recitation of the rosary in English, Latin, Spanish and French followed. A candlelight procession on the church grounds was led by children strewing flower petals in front of the statue of Our Lady.
Father Matthew Buettner concluded the evening with the recitation of the Litany of Loreto.
