Bishop Waters dedicated the new building, called Sacred Heart Church, in June 1962. The local Catholic population at the time only numbered 28. Today, Sacred Heart and its mother parish, St. Andrew, together serve Catholics across more than 1,000 square miles of mountainous territory.
