CHARLOTTE — More than 40 children who have fled war and persecution in their homelands recently had a chance to do what so many American children may take for granted – have fun at a summer camp.

Whether it was going to Carowinds, bowling or making crafts, the campers had a blast just being kids.

Organized by Catholic Charities Diocese of Charlotte, the annual summer camp has made a difference in the lives of refugee children and their families for years.

Learn more about the impact of the summer camp program from Catholic Charities’ Taylor Barnhardt and Laura T. Jones.
