MORGANTON — A beacon of the Advent season – a huge Advent wreath – is on display once again this year at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Morganton, a 33-year-old tradition at the parish.
Volunteers used branches from eight North Carolina-grown Fraser fir trees to set up the wreath, made from an 11-foot PVC frame built by a parishioner.
The wreath is lit with battery-powered candles and is suspended over the nave by wires about 14 feet off the ground.
The branches came from a Christmas tree farm in Newland and serve as a beautiful reminder not only of the Advent season, but of the support many of the region’s tree farmers need in the wake of Tropical Storm Helene.
This holiday season, your choice of a North Carolina-grown Fraser fir not only brings the beauty of a fresh, fragrant tree into your home but also helps support the farmers who need it most.
Find a local tree farm near you and spread the holiday cheer while making a difference. Together, we can help rebuild and restore this vital part of our community.
