082525 refugee campCHARLOTTE — More than 40 children who have fled war and persecution in their homelands recently had a chance to enjoy five weeks of fun at a summer camp.

This year, campers experienced traditional camp activities and crafts as well as a variety of educational and recreational field trips. They learned that the sky is not a limit at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum, jumped for joy at Big Air trampoline park, experimented at Discovery Place Science Museum and explored the ocean at SEA LIFE aquarium. They also got to swim at Lake Norman State Park and just be kids.

Organized by Catholic Charities Diocese of Charlotte, the annual summer camp has made a difference in the lives of refugee children and their families for years.

Learn more about the impact of the summer camp program from Catholic Charities’ Taylor Barnhardt and Laura T. Jones.
