MOORESVILLE — St. Therese Church celebrated a special Mass Aug. 3 for God the Father of All Mankind. Although it is not an official feast day, many Catholics across the globe are advocating for God the Father to have His own day.
“The biggest message that the Father wants to share with each one of His beloved sons and daughters is that our identity is within Him,” parishioner and event organizer Moreen Wilhelm said. “Every single person needs to know they are loved by a Father who pursues them relentlessly.”
Her fascination with the idea started a few years ago when she received a book: “The Father Speaks to His Children.”
“It was actually the most beautiful love letter I have ever read in my life. I was in tears when I finished the book,” Wilhelm said. "I came away thinking that He is obsessed with us. We are so loved. I know that the Father has asked us for this feast day, and He wants us to know Him.”
Wilhelm is grateful that Father Mark Lawlor, St. Therese pastor, held the Mass and prays it gains popularity around the globe.
