CHARLOTTE — A nationally known TV personality and the father of a local priest who developed the first successful abortion pill reversal protocol will headline North Carolina Right to Life’s annual gala Sept. 17 at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown.
Rachel Campos-Duffy, co-host of “FOX & Friends Weekend,” author and nationally recognized pro-life advocate, will be the featured speaker at the Proudly Pro-Life Gala. A former cast member on MTV’s “The Real World,” the mother of nine children – including a daughter with Down syndrome – is an advocate for faith, family and the dignity of every human life.
St. Mark parishioner Dr. Matthew Harrison will receive the Proudly Pro-Life Award at the gala. Harrison, whose son is High Point University Campus Minister Father Matthew Harrison, is being honored for his pioneering work in abortion pill reversal. He is credited with saving the first baby whose mother took an abortion pill by developing a reversal protocol using the hormone progesterone. His work has offered hope to many women seeking a second chance after beginning a chemical abortion.
N.C. Right to Life is a Greensboro-based organization that supports the sanctity of life from conception through natural death. It advocates for pro-life legislation, hosts events for young people, provides speakers for events, and educates voters about pro-life issues. The non-sectarian organization is led by President Dr. Bill Pincus, a parishioner at St. Joseph Church in Asheboro.
“This gala is more than a fundraising event,” said Anne Carmichael, senior fundraising strategist for the organization. “It is an opportunity to celebrate lives saved, honor courageous leadership and inspire the next generation of pro-life advocates.”
