CHARLOTTE — More than 150 people came together Oct. 21 for the inaugural Matthew Morgan Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness, which was held to support friends and fellow students in the Down syndrome community at St. Patrick School.
The event, also supported by Holy Trinity Middle and Charlotte Catholic High schools, was held in conjunction with National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
Families and students in the school’s Matthew Morgan Program participated in a one-mile walk and then enjoyed food, fun and games on the blacktop at St. Patrick School. Principal Nick Calametti also presented a $700 donation from the school to Roy Courtney with the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte.
St. Patrick’s Matthew Morgan Program provides customized learning for students with Down syndrome in kindergarten through fifth grade.
