The successful candidate will be a faith-filled, Christ-centered and mission-focused dynamic leader who holds a genuine commitment to Catholic education.

Important qualifications include:

●      A strong background in teaching in a school setting

●      A knowledgeable practitioner of a variety of educational teaching and learning styles and methods

●      The ability to create and grow a positive and collaborative working environment and a strong, vibrant Catholic educational culture

●      An ability to guide and support students and their families in a relationship of trust and collaboration

●      Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and parents

●      Commitment to employing a positive, growth mindset to teaching

Education and qualifications should include the following:

●      Bachelor’s degree required (Masters preferred)

●      North Carolina or Diocesan Teaching License required

●      5+ years of teaching experience preferred

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Teaches skills and content of grade level standards
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing appropriate rules and procedures
  • Perform certain pastoral duties including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
  • Participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities such as social events, sporting events, clubs, community service and other school community activities
  • Participate in department, school and parent meetings
  • Communicate regularly with parents, administration, and colleagues regarding student progress and needs
  • Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
  • Adhere to and support the mission of St. Leo Catholic Church and School
  • All teachers are also responsible for a variety of duties and tasks throughout the day; the principal will make these assignments and share them with faculty. These tasks and assignments adapt with the needs of the community
  • Other duties as assigned
