CHARLOTTE — The fourth-grade class at St. Matthew School received a lesson in commerce at their annual Market Day.

Students created a product or a service to sell to their classmates and staff. They learn what it is like to be a producer by having to budget items in the creative process.

The students also have a chance to become consumers when it is their turn to buy from peers. In the end, they get a hands-on understanding of supply-and-demand based on inventory and their returns.
